Whether headed to Daphne, Pascagoula, or somewhere much farther, drivers throughout Mobile are always looking to save money on gas. The 2017 Toyota Prius remains the go-to option in this area, with its strong fuel economy numbers and accessible price tag. It’s not alone, though, as the 2017 Ford C-Max Hybrid has recently gained a following of its own. When you look at the numbers, though, as we will here, the Prius remains the clear champ! Check out the new Prius in person at Palmer’s Toyota in Mobile, AL, and see why this model remains such a favorite among hybrids.

Fuel Economy

Most shoppers in the market for a hybrid have put fuel economy at the top of their priority list. The 2017 Toyota Prius is quite literally miles ahead of the 2017 Ford C-Max Hybrid in this area. The performance of the Prius is centered around the pairing of a 1.8L inline-four engine and dual electric motors that together are capable of getting up to an EPA-estimated 54 mpg city and 50 mpg highway in most cases; with the Prius Two Eco, those numbers climb as high as 58 mpg city and 53 mpg highway! Compare that to the Ford C-Max Hybrid’s 2.0L four-cylinder engine and single electric motor, which combine to only get an EPA-estimated 42 mpg city and 38 mpg highway.

Safety Features

The 2017 Toyota Prius and 2017 Ford C-Max Hybrid are both available with driver assistance features like Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. However, only the 2017 Toyota Prius comes standard with the advanced Toyota Safety Sense™ P suite, which includes a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Sadly, none of these features are even available as upgrades on the new Ford C-Max Hybrid.
