2017 Honda HR-V
Looking for an affordable vehicle that’s even more maneuverable than your typical crossover SUV but with room that exceeds your average hatchback? Enter the subcompact crossover segment and the all-new 2018 Toyota C-HR! In 2016, the Honda HR-V arrived on the scene to some fanfare of its own, but upon closer examination, it’s clear that the new Toyota model has a definite edge. Find out just how the new C-HR defeats the competition from Palmer’s Toyota.
Just because you’re opting for a subcompact crossover doesn’t mean you don’t want some pickup when you step on the gas. The 2018 Toyota C-HR certainly has some pep to offer Mobile drivers, featuring a 1.8L four-cylinder engine that makes 144 hp and 139 lb-ft of torque. Compare that to the 2017 Honda HR-V, which also comes with a 1.8L four-cylinder engine but is only able to achieve an output of 141 hp and 127 lb-ft of torque. Even if you’re just looking for a practical daily driver, the Toyota C-HR will still get you moving around town with confidence.
Although brand-new to the segment, the 2018 Toyota C-HR makes an impressive debut appearance by including a full lineup of standard advanced driver assistance safety features via the Toyota Safety Sense™ P package. Each version of this crossover features a standard Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and Automatic High Beams. The Honda HR-V sadly isn’t offered with any of these features, even at the very top of the trim ladder.
No matter which of these two vehicles you choose, you can expect to get standard fare like Bluetooth®, a rearview camera, and cruise control. Unlike the Honda HR-V, though, the Toyota C-HR also gets standard Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control as well as dual-zone automatic climate control, for added convenience and a total comfort no matter where you’re seated in the cabin.
