Here at Palmer’s Toyota, we actively promote the impressive the Toyota Safety Sense suite of advanced safety technologies to our Daphne, AL customers. It is, in fact, one of the major selling points for new Toyota vehicles. Engineers have worked incredibly hard to make sure that Toyota vehicles are as safe as they possibly can be, and it truly does look as if those efforts are proving effective, particularly since Toyota Safety Sense is winning accolades from respected organizations like the New England Motor Press Association.

The NEMPA recently gave TSS-P their annual Yankee Cup Technology Award, which won’t come as all that big a surprise for those that know just how extensive this package of safety features really is. Here’s a quick look at the highlights of TSS-P:

Pre-Collision Warning System – This particular bit of technology determines what the vehicle should do when a collision appears imminent. The car actually can steer itself away from trouble to either minimize or completely avoid damage. Brake Assist can even avoid potential collisions with pedestrians or other objects.

Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist – For those that ever have been distracted or drowsy while driving, this feature is a gift from the technology gods. It helps to keep drivers in their own lanes, cutting down on lane-drifting accidents exponentially.

Dynamic Radar Cruise Control – This would be your car ensuring that your following distance is safe. If it isn’t, the vehicle’s radar cruise control will adapt for you.

There are, of course, other great safety features that make models like the 2016 Toyota Camry and 2016 Toyota Prius some of the safest in the industry, and we are glad that they’re strong enough to earn the praise of the good people in the NEMPA. We’re even gladder, though, that our drivers are some of the safest in the world as a result of that technology.
