Toyota recently unveiled its first look at the 2018 Toyota Tundra at the Chicago Auto Show. From what we’ve seen so far, it looks like they’re going to continue building upon the current Tundra by adding on several exhilarating available performance features, as well as a new collection of standard safety technologies. Before it arrives at Palmer’s Toyota, get the inside scoop on what you can expect from this new-and-improved powerhouse pickup.

New Trim Level

Called the TRD Sport, this model will come standard with the Tundra’s 5.7L V8 engine as well as a variety of exclusive performance features, including sport-tuned Bilstein shocks and front and rear stabilizer bars. This trim will also stand out in a crowd with exclusive styling elements like smoke taillights, 20-inch black aluminum wheels, TRD Sport floor mats, and TRD doorsills.

Performance Capabilities

In addition to available four-wheel drive (4×4) and outstanding towing and payload numbers, it appears that the 2018 Toyota Tundra should be returning with the same two powerful V8 engine options:

  • 4.6L V8 – The standard engine on the Tundra will continue to be a 4.6L V8 engine that sends out 310 hp and 327 lb-ft of torque.

  • 5.7L V8 – You’ll also have the opportunity to upgrade to a 5.7L V8 engine that generates a commanding 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque.

Toyota Safety Sense™ P (TSS-P)

The 2018 Toyota Tundra will be the first ever full-size pickup to come standard with autonomous emergency braking, which will come as part of an advanced suite of driver assistance safety features called Toyota Safety Sense™ P (TSS-P). This package includes:

  • Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist

  • Pre-Collision System with Vehicle Detection and Pedestrian Detection

  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

  • Automatic High Beams
